Biography

I was born in Kent, south-east England, and raised in the north of Scotland. I was fortunate to obtain an all-round scholarship at the age of 9 to Aberlour House preparatory school, where I flourished in art, music, drama, languages and outdoor activities. At the age of 12 I achieved another all-round scholarship to Gordonstoun School, which I left after completing my GCSEs.

After a year obtaining Scottish Highers at Elgin Academy, I did the first year of a Fine Art degree at Moray College, before going on to complete my BA at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

One of my life-long interests is the debate about truth and reality, and the expression of the biblical worldview in art, which I discussed in my extended dissertation: An Examination of Post-Modern Assumptions: Calling for Christian Cultural Artistry in 2003. This should be available for perusal at UWE Bristol, Bower Ashton Campus Library.

Since leaving university in 2003 I have done different types of work including:
- being a Personal Assistant in London,
- volunteering as a chef and cleaner on a community in central Israel,
- painting, drawing and writing as my main work since September 2005.

Other hobbies and pursuits include:
- song-writing for voice, cello and piano,
- writing and reading poetry,
- cooking and going out to restaurants with my sister - there is nothing I like doing more than having dinner with friends!
- my favourite game is throwing and catching a tennis ball onto a wall, or with someone who is able - and I throw like a boy, not like a girl!
